Professor Vladimir Smirnov of the Institute of Experimental Cardiology warned that there is no evidence that the treatment works. He said stem cells may not be present at all and there are risks involved with the procedure.

“The fetuses are often not tested for diseases including AIDS, and many clinics are not regulated,” the Daily Mail said.

“We are talking about a huge, corrupt, and dangerous trade in quack therapies. No one has been given any license for injecting stem cells - these are only experiments,” Smirnov added.
